The article deals with the issues of establishing the dependence between the stability of the features of parts and details of firearms on fired bullets and the impact on the bullets of the environment after the shot. In the theory and practice of forensic ballistic examination there is accumulated methodical material on the establishment of the identification period by traces on bullets exposed to different effects. However, there are some problematic issues related to the analysis of changes in traces on bullets stayed for a certain period of time in aggressive environment. Purpose: to analyze the influence of the type of environment and its hydrogen index on the identification period of features in traces on fired bullets. Methods: a set of methods of formal logic, general scientific methods: description, experiment, comparison, modelling, specific scientific methods: microscopic, photographic methods of research. Results: the article evaluates the stability of features in traces on fired bullets located in sandy soil with different hydrogen index.
